Don’t blink! As surely as you do, you will open your eyes only to realize just how quickly time goes by. I can hardly believe that a year has passed since my family first walked into the life of this church family. You immediately welcomed us in with loving, open arms. You not only took time to speak with and get to know Connie and I, but you also made my kids feel special. You will never know just how much we appreciate that.

I have to say, looking back over a year of joys and sorrows, I have thought of many things we have experienced together. Many of us have been in hospital rooms and even gravesides together. On the other end of the spectrum, we have had some great celebrations together as well! We have laughed and rejoiced through things such as baptisms, 22 additions to this wonderful church family, lots of great “Eatin’ Meetin’s”, the incredible Thanksgiving Meal and Easter Festival, the exciting Chili Cook-Off and Super Bowl Party, parades and festivals, Hope 4 Gaston, the Dental Bus, and sooooo many more ways we were able to worship together, play together, and fellowship together. One of my favorite times of the week is every Wednesday! I so love getting to hang out with the kids and youth in the evenings before services. Most of all, I love our Wednesday Bible studies. For most of this calendar year we have been doing the “Through the Bible Series”, looking at a summary of each book. It has proven to be a rich, rewarding, worshipful experience and I thank all of you who participate in the prayer and discussion each week. I wake up each Wednesday excited that it is finally Wednesday again!

In the coming year, my heart almost skips a beat as I anticipate what I believe God has in mind for FBC. December will be my 12-year-anniversary as a pastor, and I have been around long enough to have seen and experienced many things. My heart and my instincts tell me that everything is lining up for something big to happen just around the corner. That means that just like Joshua told the Israelites in the days right before they crossed into the Promised Land, these are the days to prepare. So church, let’s get ready!

I believe our best days are just ahead! If everyone will personally prepare, then do our part as God calls, then we will be able to take part in His incredible plan: because where God calls, He always provides!

Thank you for helping me to celebrate my 1-year anniversary.  Thank you for allowing me to be called your Pastor.  It is one of the sweetest words I know.  I look forward to joining you in this process of getting ready. We will do it together as we get to know each other more deeply, and as we seek to fall more deeply in love with our Savior, asking Him to grow us in our bonds of love for one another in koinonia fellowship.

As Ephesians 4:1-6 says, I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,   2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,   3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.   4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;   5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;   6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
